Em dash (—): copy and paste

Em dash · Unicode U+2014 · HTML —

The em dash (—) is the longest dash, about the width of the letter M. It marks a break in a sentence — like this — or sets off an aside more strongly than commas.

Use it without spaces in US style (word—word) and with spaces in UK style (word — word). Do not confuse it with the shorter en dash (–), which joins ranges like 9–5.

Most writing apps auto-convert two hyphens (--) into an em dash as you type.
